6x6 Featheredge Fence Panels

Our Featheredge fence panels have been pressure treated to provide lasting protection against rot.

The vertical feather edge design of these panels offers a timeless finish that would compliment any garden.

What are 6x6 'FeatherEdge' Fence Panels?

Featheredge fencing is a standard timeserved traditional design that can be seen gracing suburban streets and manor houses the length and breadth of Britain.

The reason for its success lies not only in its good looks, the regular vertical lines, and repeated shadows but also in its practicality.

Greater Design for Added Protection

The featheredge formula directs rainwater off its surface faster than other fence panel designs, staving off rot, and other water damage. Proper pressure treatment also delivers longevity, giving you the confidence that once fitted, these panels can be left alone for a while.

Fence panels will require maintenance to manage their good looks over time, but their robust build quality will deliver security and stand up to the worst of our island weather.

...And Additional Privacy

A six-foot high panel will be adequate for securing most public-facing garden fences, delivering privacy from casual passers-by, or opportunist thieves.

The close-boarded featheredge fence panel finish also means that there is no mid-panel visibility. The individual boards overlap to ensure there are no gaps, so you and your family can enjoy your garden without feeling like you’re on display.

6x6 Fence Panel Fitting

Six-by-six is big, so these fence panels are a two-person lift, but not so heavy that they cannot be fitted in between slotted concrete posts.

If your final panel at the end of a run is of a non-standard size, a featheredge panel can be cut down without the alteration looking too obvious. Simply remove the featheredging to the width of the panel required, then cut the cross-rails.

Fit the altered fence panel between the posts, then pin the featheredge strips to suit the gap. You can change the overlap to cope with correct coverage or use a jigsaw, or circular saw to trim a featheredge strip to fit.

Customising Your Fence

Another way to customise your featheredge fence panels is to cut a curve across the top of the panel. Mark an arc with a piece of chalk and use a jigsaw to trim it. Treat the cut ends with a wood preserver to finish off.

Alternatively, you could cut a jig, or pattern, from a piece of scrap plywood, thereby ensuring every arc is the same.

Remember to let your neighbours know if you are going to start taking an existing fence down to replace it. They may have dogs or children that will need to be kept out of the way while the work is going on.

For added security in a public-facing boundary, always ensure the featheredging is facing outwards so that the climbable cross-rails are on your side.
