The Basics
Traffic management products always seem to begin with the humble road cone, and at Wade, we have three main types. Road cones are an identifiable, inexpensive way to control vehicle flow in many traffic situations.
First off are the orange cones with reflective bands, in both 500mm and 750mm sizes. These are the everyday standard road cones that are recognised everywhere in the UK.
The standard ‘no-waiting’ cone is perfect for setting up temporary parking restrictions to enable access, or for a public event to prevent vehicles from parking alongside designated access routes.
For highlighting access points, changes in direction, or other hazards, the green Dominator traffic cone is an ideal choice and is 100% road-legal.
Safety and Security
Segregation between pedestrians and moving vehicles is a key requirement for both construction sites and event management.
Pedestrian Chapter 8 Barriers
Chapter 8 traffic management barriers are so-called as they are designed to be 100% compliant with the legislation governing road safety and the safety and security of pedestrians and workers.
Light, and portable, they are perfect for fast-moving projects, or dynamic situations, while being secure with a high degree of stability.
Site Boundary Barriers
For heavier-duty applications, where larger vehicles require more robust segregation, the Novus water-filled barriers are also perfect for securing site boundaries when combined with a mesh extension.
The water-filled barriers are perfect for brownfield sites that are already level or may not be suitable for more permanent hoarding. The mesh construction allows for a wind-loading of up to 69mph, so ideal for exposed areas.
Even so, it is a good idea to ensure that the barriers are filled with water before the mesh extensions are fitted.
Additional Traffic Safety Products
Traffic management is a comprehensive discipline that encompasses kerb protection, cable management and ensuring pedestrians are kept safe in all conditions.
Pedestrian Protection and Directional Products
Chapter 8 delivers directional control for most pedestrian problems, but sometimes you will need to manage changes in level, especially when the new, or temporary route takes in a high stepped kerb or uneven surfaces.
